AION 2 Templar Build Guide: Global PvE, PvP and Solo
AION 2 Templar build guide for Global: skill priorities, party role, solo adjustments and PvP decisions, with sources and clear limits.
Start with a Templar build that can hold enemy attention, survive predictable damage and still contribute attacks between defensive actions. Choose it if you enjoy being responsible for where a fight happens. Choose a Gladiator instead if you mainly want a durable melee damage dealer.

A practical Global PvE starting point
Current Global community guides build the offensive core around Judgment, Pummel and Punishment, with defensive or attention-control Stigmas selected for the encounter. AION2 Vault’s Templar guide explains that split. Treat those names as a starting checklist to compare with your own tooltip, rather than copying levels from a character with more points.
Build in this order: a dependable repeatable attack loop, enough defensive coverage to stay alive, then situational group utility. If you lose the boss whenever a teammate uses a large damage cooldown, check the attention-control tools available in your current setup. Adding more armor alone does not solve that problem.
Tanking is a positioning job
Before pulling, identify where your group can stand and where you can move without dragging enemies through them. Keep turns deliberate. A boss that changes facing every few seconds makes the fight harder for the Assassin trying to reach its back and the caster trying to finish a cast.
Watch the enemy animation before watching your cooldown bar. Save a defensive response for the attack that threatens your survival, rather than pressing everything at the start. If you need to move, announce it and establish a new safe position before your teammates spend their burst skills.

Skill and equipment priorities
Compare upgrades by the problem they fix. An offensive improvement is useful if the encounter is safe but slow. A defensive improvement is useful if a repeatable hit ends the attempt. A utility choice is useful if your party cannot manage a particular enemy action. These are different build goals, and combining the most expensive choices from three guides does not automatically create a better tank.
Do not neglect the weapon simply because your role is defensive. Equally, do not replace a survival tool for a slightly higher theoretical attack value while learning an unfamiliar boss. Test one change on the same encounter and record whether your deaths, enemy turns and lost attack time improve.
Solo and PvP adjustments
For ordinary questing, use a more offensive setup once the enemies are safe. Pulling everything in sight can still be slower than taking a manageable pack, especially if you spend the fight blocking and recovering. Our beginner guide provides a progression checklist that does not assume an endgame loadout.
In coordinated PvP, judge your contribution through protection and disruption. Chasing one escaping target can abandon the teammate you were keeping safe. Before a fight, agree whether you are initiating, protecting the healer or blocking an approach; change that assignment only when the team understands the switch.
Party partners and tier placement
A Cleric can cover recovery while you manage the frontline. A Chanter can add support alongside damage. The remaining roles should match what the encounter needs rather than an inflexible composition copied from another region.
Our group-PvE S rating values the distinct defensive job. Solo B describes slower comfort-oriented clearing, not an inability to complete quests. See the full mode-specific tier list before comparing this rating with a damage-only chart.
